Cognitive behavioral treatments are some of the most widely researched and supported as being effective options for a variety of psychological concerns. Cognitive therapies focus on the way in which thinking effects mood and behavior while behavioral therapies focuses on how behaviors are developed and maintained. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), as the name implies, tends to examine how thoughts effect emotion and behavior in a cyclical fashion. CBT treatment is practical, logical, and well suited for specific symptomatic complaints.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (also known as ACT – pronounced as a verb) examines the sometimes negative ways in which language and cognition interact in order to produce suffering and unwanted behaviors. Treatment focuses on a number of areas including values, thoughts, emotions, avoidance, and language. This treatment has been shown to be highly effective with a number of problem areas.

The Anderson Method is a treatment program for life-long weight loss, management, and healthy living. The Method involves weekly sessions (usually lasting about 12 weeks), reading materials, and tasks to improve one’s achievement of health goals.

Trauma is a common cause of psychological difficulties. Trauma comes in many forms and can only be defined by an individual’s experience of an event or series of events. Due to the complex nature of trauma and its treatment, it is recommended that clients seek a professional with training specific to trauma.
